Police Are Murdering African People, At Home And Abroad!
According to a post on, Davey D’s Hip Hip Corner Blog there had already been 29 Africans murdered by the Police aka Pigs, across America, by April this year. (1) For those of us who understand the purpose and function of the police in our communities as the occupyng armed wing of the White ruling class and state within our captive ghetto neighborhoods this is not a surprise.
Police terror is not a new issue in the African community anywhere in the world. We have seen that under the universal condition of colonization African people at home and abroad have been constantly harassed, brutalized, and murdered by police forces. Whether we are living in Kingston Jamaica, Nairobi Kenya, Bahia Brazil, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Oakland California, London England, Toronto Canada, Queens New York, Isreal, Freetown Sierra Leone, or anywhere else African people are the perpectual victims of police terrorism!
Under capitalism every police officer is a paid agent of imperialism. He or she regardless of their race, age, sex, and religion are members of the armed forces of capitalism! The Black Panther Party once had a song with these lyrics: “The revolution has come, off the pigs! Time to pick up the gun, off the pigs!” and the slogan “The only good cop is a dead cop”! These expressions candidly articulated their understanding of the police forces as the enemies of the people by virtue of their occupation.
The Algerian revolutionary Franz Fanon once said that “Each generation must discover its mission, fulfill it or betray it, in relative opacity.” A dozen years into the 21st Century there is a New Generation of revolutionary Africans emerging from the grassroots. Africans yet unknown to the masses of our people that have been studying and working for years to understand the historical and societal conditions that we are confronted with and must fight to overturn. We are beginning to wake up, clean up, and stand up!
Understanding that the African Liberation Movement is a revolutionary struggle and that African people are a single people worldwide forced to live under direct and indirect imperialist rule. Two of the young African revolutionaries that are beginning to become more visible internationally are Malcolm Shabazz and Chernoh Alpha M. Bah have decided to join forces to promote African unity.
Malcolm Shabazz is the grandson of the legendary muslim revolutionary leader, Malcolm X. Through his speaking and writing young Shabazz has become a voice for this generation. His own life experiences have mirrored his grandfathers in some very significant ways that has armed him with the ability to relate to the most downtrodden sectors of the working poor in this society. Malcolm has travelled all over the world and has a very serious and humble disposition that allows people to embrace him as common folk.
In an televised interview on Press TV in April Malcolm stated, ““There are hundreds of Black Americans who are being murdered in the United States every year with impunity. And police officers serve no time. They always get off”.(2) Malcolm who has developed a close frienships with political prisoners like Mumia Abu Jamal and Jalil Muntaquim speaks very passionately about the question of political prisoners and the prison industrial complex in this interview also.
Chernoh Alpha M. Bah
Chernoh is an award winning journalist, former political prisoner, revolutionary organizer and current Chairman of the African Socialist Movement of Sierra Leone. He was imprisoned for his skills as a journalist for exposing the human rights abuses being metted out by the Guinean government on the refugees from Sierra Leone and Liberia during the civil war years in those countries.
The African Socialist Movement of Sierra Leone formed an alliance with the National Democratic Alliance are running 10 members, including Chernoh, for strategic parliamentary and council seats in Freetown and Makeni. Building a mass base of support numbering in the tens of thousands over the last 11 years since the official end the horrific civil war Chernoh and his comrades are contesting the neocolonialist for democratic space in the November 17 elections in that country.
In an article written on June 20, 2012 he called out the Sierra Leone Police for “killing people indiscriminately”. In his capacity as the National Spokesperson for the NDA he has utilized the election campaign as a public forum to criticize the ruling party. In this article he states, “In the past months, we have seen the un professionalism of the SLP in responding to problems when they occur. We call on the government to immediately disarm all police officers with weapons because they are killing innocent people indiscriminately. They should not be given weapons until they are professionally trained,”. (3)
