Ajamu’s Initial Response To The Attack On Chernoh Alpha M. Bah!

I am only making this statement to set the record straight and to announce publicly that I stand in BULLETPROOF SOLIDARITY with the African Socialist Movement and Comrade Chernoh Alpha M. Bah! I stand firm in my stance in defense of the attacks made against Comrade Matthew Willis who has supported the legitimate work that I am leading in Tampa, Florida and the International Solidarity Committee of the ASM.

First let me say that the former APSP ally is no other than myself, Ajamu Bandele and that my wife is Iyapo Ngina Bandele. Both of us while in the Uhuru Movement aka the Political Cult Of Yeshitelism where honest forces that gave unselfishly to the organization as anyone who knows us and our work. In October 2008 I was arrested on bogus drug charges in my hometown of York, Pa as a consequence of my political activities in the city challenging the anti gang initiative in the 222 Catch 22 Campaign I threatened the city government and police ability to contend for a $5 million grant to fight gangs that did not exist. They were seeking to criminalize and incarcerate masses of youth as gang members that were innocent. While in the movement I was praised for this work and my leadership in the APSP North East Organizing Committee.

I grew up in the streets and juvenile institutions and in a broken home with a crack addicted mother. I got caught up in the dope game and from the age 12 through 22 I was a drug dealer and gang member. While serving a 5-10 year sentence I was introduced to revolutionary ideology and when I was released I was prepared to join organization and make my contribution to the liberation of African people. I am not ashamed of having once been a criminal because I changed my life and became a servant of the people.

However, due to my past I was on state parole even while organizing justice campaigns and political education programs in my home town and monthly party schools throughout the North East. I was not a drug dealer at the time of my arrest I was a revolutionary. I was caught up in a buy bust that I was not a conscious participant in. Immediately upon my arrest my co defendant offered a confession statement and made it clear to the police that I had nothing to do with his involvement. My arrest was a day before me and my wives honeymoon so she was on her way to Pennsylvania anyways. Because I was on parole I could not make parole. My co defendant wrote a confession statement and gave it to me to pass on to my attorney and I made sure that the APSP/Uhuru Movement got a copy.

Originally, I didn’t know what had happened or who was really responsible for this set up. We entertained a few possibilities including the wrath of a scorn ex girlfriend. Honestly we were blind sided by it all. I was a full time student at the Art Institute and owned 2 businesses with full custody of my child preparing for my move to St. Petersburg , Fl. to consolidate my family. Selling some marijuana was the last thing on my mind but there I was in prison on trumped up drug charges that would have been dismissed at the precinct once my co defendant made his confession if I was not involved in the political work that I was. The charges were retaliatory and cost me 33 months of political incarceration due to my work to build the Uhuru Movement.

The Free Ajamu Campaign was a farce from the very beginning. It took 45 days before the APSP/InPDUM even publicly announced my arrest and called for a call in. This in the same week of my preliminary. Me and Iyapo saw the writing on the wall early because we had both observed and participated in campaigns in which the APSP had unity and will to fight and there was nothing indicative of unity and will in the campaign to free me. Iyapo, made criticisms of the lack of enthusiasm and action around my campaign. The hiding of my arrest for 45 days let us know what was in store but we believe in the process.

3 way phone calls were coordinated and Diop Olugbala visited me at the prison on 2 occasions on fact finding missions in which I was forthcoming with ALL information, I did 2 prison interviews on the Uhuru Radio, gave them a copy of my co defendants confession statement, and of my “discovery document” containing all of the evidence that the state planned to use against me at trial.

Me and my wife left the movement after exhausting the internal process of the movement after criticism after criticism was responded with counter criticisms that BLAMED US for their lack of unity and will with MY LIBERATION!

Diop Olugbala was placed as the ledership over the Free Ajamu campaign and if anybody sabotaged my liberation and was not forthcoming with the facts of my case it was him! I told him intimate details and he sat in the prison visiting room taking notes. It was his job to report back to the organization the facts so if they didnt get them then it was because he deliberately refused to turn them over. Under his direct leadership there was never a POA developed to outline a campaign strategy! No fundraising apparatus! We were recommended to use an attorney that wanted an exorbitant amount of money for counsel. Ultimately, it was my wife Iyapo Bandele who had to lead this work outside of the restraints of the movement. She raised the money for my lawyer! She came to York 2 weeks before my lynch trial and pounded the concrete!! She raise criticism after criticism of Diops misleadership or lack there of over the “Free Ajamu” Campaign!

After I was found guilty by an all white jury and sentenced to 2-4 years a criticism of the “Free Ajamu” campaign was made by me and Iyapo jointly because we wanted answers and for all forces responsible for its sabotage to be held accountable and be brought under party discipline. Instead, an attack blaming me for my arrest, and me and Iyapo’s disdain for democratic centralism, and their admitted disunity with the campaign was admitted in a counter criticism that left the movement free of any responsibility for the failure of the Free Ajamu Campaign. In fact, they arrogantly championed the campaign as being a success as I prepared to serve 2-4 years for nothing other than building the Uhuru Movement and leading the African working class in struggle against the colonial state.

We decided to leave the Political Cult of Yeshitelism and I released this public statement, http://www.assatashakur.org/fo… While in prison I reflected on the sabotage of my campaign and my suspicions of Diop Olugbala as an agent due to his role in my case and the disruptive behavior that he has the tendency of displaying. Like in the case of making a diss track of Dead Prez and Fred Hampton Jr., his public attack of Kamau in Philly that resulted in that force leaving the movement, his sexual exploits that resulted and continue to result in causing African women who are promising organizers to raise struggle only to be attacked by the leadership and chased out of the organization while this oppressor of African women continues to be held up as the “Golden Chlld of the Movement”, he is a dead beat father and in my opinion he fits the profile of a agent provocateur so much so that if in fact he is not then he sure acts like one!

My commitment to revolution was not affected by my political incarceration or betrayal by the Uhuru Movement. I returned home in July 2011 and immediately began organizing the Black Star Action Network in Tampa, Florida only 25 minutes away fro St. Petersburg. My wife Iyapo had still remained a supporter of the Uhuru Movement where their was unity. Attending events and still doing the hair of the local members in St. Petersburg. To show that there was no hard feelings and that all we wanted to do was the work we decided to go to a PE during the Uhuru Summer at which Chairman Omali made a comment from the podium while introducing me to the audience to the effect that I was a good organizer “even though I would be in places that I should not have been”. Which I experienced as an attack because it was inappropriate and dishonest since I never once as an organizer with the Uhur Movement went anywhere without the APPROVAL of my leadership. It was a stipulation of my parole that I could not travel but I was allowed by my leadership and frequently asked to violate my parole and travel into Philadelphia, DC, and Baltimore to do work. Lead up Party Schools and protest! I made no moves without the approval of Diop Olugbala. So to portray me as this insubordinate force that was “in places that I should not have been” the first time that you see me after technically serving a 33 month political incarceration for my work with the APSP. The following day I was contacted by the chairman who apologized and acted as if he didn’t mean anything by it.

All was forgiven and we went on building the BSAN. In September 2011 suddenly the sisters in the movement stopped making hair appointments with Iyapo which was strange so she sent emails to them asking if anything was wrong. Eventually, Comrade Baye called Iyapo and told her of this conspiracy that was initiated by Ona Yeshitela against her/us for allegedly STEALING the Black Star name from the Uhuru Movement! This was just ridiculous for a number of reasons but mainly because in all of its logos they use a RED STAR and how arrogant is it to claim copyright to a universal African symbol. The fact is that we had been developing the line and structure of the Black Star Action Network for 2 years before I was released from prison. An email was sent to Ona and Omali to clarify this and to express the outrage about being black balled. Of course, this was denied and the Chairman acted as if he knew nothing of it.

We made it clear that we wanted to left alone to organize and that was that. Around this same time I received a correspondence from Chernoh explaining to me what had transpired between the former Africanist Movement annd the ASI/APSP ans asked if I would assist him in building a base of support for the African Socialist Movement’s electoral campaign contesting the neocolonialist for parliamentary seats in the 2012 elections. After a serious of discussions I accepted the task and began consolidating forces to build this International Support Committee with. Matthew Willis volunteered to function as our graphic designer and agit prop specialist. He has been consistent and has not displayed any of the attributes of the demon that he is being portrayed as in this article.

There has been a few petty squabbles leading up to this slanderous attack above. In February a week before the formal launching of the BSAN in Tampa it was decided that I would call the Chairman to clear the air and establish an environment of peace since we were about to be organizing in the same geographical space. We wanted to resolve any issues and move forward. Omali assured me that there was no issue and I invited him to attend the Black Struggle: Past, Present, and Future Forum that we organized to launch the BSAN featuring special guest panelist Malcolm Shabazz (Grandson of Malcolm X), Harold Taylor (Black Panther and one of the San Francisco 8), and Iyapo Ngina-Bandele (Cofounder of the BSAN).

We thought that was that until we found out a week earlier that the mother of Diop Olugbala’s newborn child was being criticized for being a supporter of “ANTI PARTY” forces for liking a post on my facebook page announcing the alliance of the BSAN and the African Socialist Movement of Sierra Leone. This was wild because I had just spoken directly to Omali and he assured me that there was no beef and that it was all good. I knew that eventually it would come to this but I didn’t expect them to be so dishonest and unprincipled.

Last month Penny Hess of the APSC took the liberty to initiate an attack on Chernoh’s facebook page calling him a neocolonialist. I doubt if she did this on her own since I know that the APSP don’t do or say shit especially to or about African people without the approval of the APSP! It was obvious that they were picking a fight through her! Matthew defended Chernoh and as taken out of context it was said in this article.

The APSP waited until now a few days before ALD to make this attack deliberately… It will be the topic of discussion as the slander campaign continues against Chernoh! This whoe situation is immature and disrespectful to the core. To label a person an agent of imperialism is the worst that you can label a revolutionary! You fuckers must be really afraid of Chernoh and the INFORMATION about your TRUE dealings and RELATIONSHIPS in Sierra Leone! All of which is forthcoming!

The fact is that Chernoh is a genuine revolutionary with an impeccable profile and history of selfless struggle! You bastards would not have a presence in Sierra Leone if you didnt exploit the Africanist Movement. They gave the ASI its legitimacy…. The comrades in South Africa have also complained of your domineering style and disregard for their self determination. You know that you have manipulated ex Africanist Forces to join you that you are stank opportunist!

I will stand in support of Chernoh M. Bah and the entire African Socialist Movement! You should have known better than to instigate this fight! You will not win this one! If an anti party force is any ex APSP member that leaves the movement and continues to organize the people then consider me a proud ANTI-Party Force… You are clowns and the hour has come for your FULL EXPOSURE!

p.s. The Uhuru Movement is in bed with supporters and members of the SLPP one of the neocolonial parties that has monopolized political power for the last 50 years. The same forces that Chernoh has led the struggle against for the last 15 years! They are recruiting weak and opportunistic forces that were former members of the Africanist Movement to legitimize their presence in Sierra Leone! The APSP is acting like an imperialist force in Sierra Leone an imperialist force that is financed by the white solidarity movement led by the lesbian feminist Penny Hess! The APSC is the cash cow of the movement and this whole article stems from the fear that Chernoh is going to EXPOSE the Uhuru Movement! This is a PRE EMPTIVE Strike to discredit Chernoh so that you will not believe anything that he says…. But I tell you GET READY! This was a foolish move on your part.
